After Hours Report for April 16

NasdaqDefinitely a mixed bag on Wall Street today. The Dow jumped back into positive territory while Apple sent the Nasdaq into the red. Economic data also gave investors a mixed bag as the NY manufacturing index cooled and the housing issue continues to haunt the street. Add in some storm clouds building in Europe and to say we might me in a bit of limbo would be an understatement.

The big news internationally will be Argentina’s nationalization of YPF. That is sure to cause consternation in Spain which has already released a statement saying they are weighing their options (diplo-speak for we ain’t happy). Domestically tech darlings Apple and Google seem to have lost their upward momentum with Apple shares dropping 4% today.

The Dow closed up 72, while the Nasdaq dropped 23. The S&P ended the day flat.

MEMC Electronic Materials Inc. (NYSE:WFR) is up 2.61% in after hours trading at $3.54. WFR shares closed the day down slightly at $3.45. WFR traded lighter than average volume today with 3.2 million shares traded. The stock typically trades 7.2 million shares a day. The company has a market cap of 796.26 million.

Lorillard, Inc. (NYSE:LO) is down 0.16% in after hours trading at $134.17. LO finished regular trading down 2.53% at $134.39. Lorillard said today it paid $1.1 billion to U.S. states under the 1998 tobacco settlement agreement. The company has a market cap of 17.59 billion.

Polycom, Inc. (NASDAQ:PLCM) is up 2.56% in after hours trading at $13.62. PLCM shares closed down 2.50% in normal trading at $13.28. PLCM shares have fallen $1 a share over the past few days. The company has a market cap of 2.36 billion.

Riverbed Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:RVBD) is down 3.73% in after hours trading at $25.52. RVBD traded 5.4 million shares during normal trading hours today, close to double its average volume. The company has a market cap of 4.18 billion.

Starwood Property Trust, Inc. (NYSE:STWD) is down 2.77% in after hours trading at $20.35. STWD shares are down in late trading after the company announced an offering of 20 million shares in underwritten public offering. The company has a market cap of 1.95 billion.

Renren Inc. (NYSE:RENN) is down 1.54% in after hours trading at $7.03. RENN saw large volume today with 33.6 million shares traded, 3 times its daily average. The company has a market cap of 2.81 billion.
