The major stock indices closed down about 0.5% as worries about the global economy continue. Economic data close to home was negative as durable goods orders rose less than economists expected at 2.2%. Economists were expecting 3%.
Economic growth contracted more than expected in the UK for the fourth quarter. Loan growth for the private sector also slowed in the euro zone in February.
The Dow closed the day down 71 points, the Nasdaq down 15 points and the S&P 500 down 7 points.
