Stocks are mixed today as investors pause after yesterday’s rally. Optimism over the Greece situation is helping the Dow stay positive this morning. Consumer prices increased in January by 0.2%, the biggest gain in four months. This was below economists estimates, who were expecting a 0.3% increase. In early trading the Dow is up 25 points, the Nasdaq is down 6 points and the S&P 500 is up 1 point.

Brightcove Inc. (NASDAQ:BCOV) is up 37.27% today at $15.10. BCOV has traded 2.6 million shares so far today. Brightcove shares opened 32% higher than its IPO price of $11 today. Greek Worries Push Futures Into The Red. Stocks to Watch: AMLN, AAPL, CTIC, ISTA, BAC, LCC

Another day, another set of worries on Greece. The multi-year saga on Greek bailouts continues this morning with renewed concerns over whether Greece can avoid a default. Dow futures are off 80 points to 12,534. Nasdaq 100 futures are down 16.50 points to 2,440, and S&P 500 futures are shedding nearly 10 pints to 1,303.

The German Finance Minister told the Wall Street Journal this morning that Greece had to get their finances in order if they expected to receive a fresh bailout. His interview came after a weekend of German demands that Greece give up its financial sovereignty. This was subsequently denied by Greece and has led to more tension in the EU. The lack of a deal has sent the global markets lower. Chinese stocks, after a week of holidays, opened lower. The banking heavy Stoxx 600 Europe is currently down nearly a percent as investors return to a risk-off game-plan.

Economic data for the morning includes personal income and consumer spending. Both are set to release at 8:30am EST.

In commodities, gold prices continued to pull back slightly after their sustained run. Gold is down $8 to $1723.60. Oil prices are following suit, down 45 cents to $99.12. Crude futures continue to remain locked in around the $100 per barrel mark.

Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMLN) is up 16.64% in pre market trading at $14.16. AMLN shares are jumping this morning after the FDA approved the company’s Bydureon diabetes drug. AMLN shares have jumped more than $3 a share since last Tuesday. The company has a market cap of 1.78 billion.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is down 0.39% in pre market trading at $445.50. AAPL shares are down this morning as the overall market is set to open lower due to Europe concerns. Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:CTIC) is down 15.79% in pre market trading at $1.12. CTIC shares are tanking today after the company pulled its new drug application for Pixurvi and plans to resubmit later this year. The company has a market cap of 246.04 million.

ISTA Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:ISTA) is down 6.16% in pre market trading at $7.47. ISTA shares are falling today after Valeant Pharmaceuticals withdrew offer for acquisition of ISTA Pharmaceuticals. ISTA trades 378 thousand shares a day on average and has a market cap of 330.35 million.

Bank of America Corp (NYSE:BAC) is down 1.78% this morning at $7.16. BAC shares are falling with the overall market this morning. The stock has traded over 900 thousand shares this morning and trades 270 million shares a day on average. Bank of America named Christian Meissner to head the investment bank. The company has a market cap of 76.81 billion.

US Airways Group, Inc. (NYSE:LCC) is up 7.46% in pre market trading at $8.79. LCC shares are up after reports that Delta is considering buying the company. LCC shares are up more than $2 since last Wednesday. The company has a market cap of 1.33 billion.

Stocks are have lost some of their early gains but are still positive in mid morning trading. Investors continue to be hesitant in this market as Europe continues to dominate the headlines. Finance ministers across Europe are discussing the terms of Greece’s debt restructuring in order for the country to receive another bailout package. Research In Motion is taking a hit this morning as well following the appointment of a new CEO.

CTIC has traded 5.2 million shares already today, four times its daily average. The company has a market cap of 271.94 million.

PetMed Express, Inc. (NASDAQ:PETS) is up 13.40% in early trading today at $12.70. PETS shares jumped today after the company posted a surprising fiscal third quarter profit increase. Patriot Coal Corporation (NYSE:PCX) is up 9.12% today at $8.20. PCX has traded 5.9 million shares this morning and should have no problem eclipsing its daily average of 6.5 million shares. No recent news for PCX, but the stock had taken a hit in recent days due to falling natural gas prices. The company has a market cap of 753.46 million.

Sears Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ:SHLD) is up 9.82% this morning at $53.81. SHLD has traded 4.2 million shares so far today, three times its daily average. SHLD shares have jumped up more than $20 a share since the first of the year. Stocks Finish The Day Mixed, Top Performing Stocks: AMR, FRO, CTIC, CLWR, IO, EK, ONTY

Stocks ended the day mixed as investors took a wait and see approach towards Europe. Later this week, European leaders will meet at a summit to discuss ways to fix the debt crisis. Leaders in France and Germany have already agreed on a plan that they believe will fix the problem and prevent future ones from occurring. This plan requires changes to the EU treaty which could come as early as the summit later this week. An interesting note on the treaty changes is France and Germany may be able to avoid a vote on the changes by invoking an obscure part of the Lisbon Treaty. That is sure to go over well with the general populations of EU countries.

On the commodities front, gold prices and oil finished the day lower while silver went up slightly. Gold is down only $1.40 and oil stayed above $100 at $100.94. Silver prices went up slightly finished the day at $32.40.

The Dow closed Tuesday up 52 points, the Nasdaq was down 6 points and the S&P closed up 1 point.

AMR Corporation (NYSE:AMR) closed the day up 67.02% at $0.7040. AMR traded 174 million shares today, way above its daily average of 19.3 million shares. AMR announced earlier today they have named Treasurer Beverly Goulet as chief restructuring officer. AMR has recently filed for bankruptcy and the stock is at risk of delisting from the NYSE as it does not meet the $1 a share minimum requirement. AMR Corp has a market cap of 236 million.

Frontline Ltd. (NYSE:FRO) closed Tuesday up 18.64% at $4.20. FRO traded 8.4 million shares today, well above its daily average of 2.6 million shares. Frontline closed higher today after the company’s board of directors gave the go ahead for restructuring. FRO stock has jumped over $1 in the past two trading sessions. The company has a market cap of 327 million.

Cell Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:CTIC) closed up 13.04% at $1.30. CTIC has traded 3.2 million shares today, nearly triple its daily average volume. The company’s PDUFA goal date is now set for April 24, 2012 for Pixantrone. Cell Therapeutics has a market cap of 250.59 million.

Clearwire Corporation (NASDAQ:CLWR) closed the day up 11.11% at $2.50. CLWR rose today after MetroPCS Communications said it would consider the company in heavy traffic areas. Ion Geophysical Corporation (NYSE:IO) finished Tuesday up 10.74% at $6.70. IO traded 3.8 million shares today and trades 2 million shares a day on average. Over the past five trading sessions, IO has jumped up nearly $1 a share. Ion Geophysical has a market cap of 1.04 billion.

The company shuffled its restructuring advisers today in a bid to shore up finances and avoid bankruptcy. EK stock is up $0.10 a share since Monday. The company has a market cap of 299.65 million.

Oncothyreon Inc. (NASDAQ:ONTY) finished Tuesday up 14.29% at $8.16. ONTY traded 1.9 million shares today, nearly 4 times its daily average. Since the start of the week, ONTY is up more than $1 a share. Phase 3 trials of the company’s cancer immunotherapy treatment and it looks like investors are hoping for positive results. Oncothyreon has a market cap of 348.29 million.
