NasdaqStocks are trading higher this morning thanks to optimism that Greece will complete its debt swap deal. Investors seemed to ignore the slightly negative jobless data today as weekly claims jumped 8,000 last week to 362,000. Economists were expecting claims to remain at 351,000. The major stock indices have given up some of their early gains, but remain positive right now. The Dow is up 40 points, the Nasdaq is up 17 points and the S&P 500 is up 7 points.

Dendreon Corporation (NASDAQ:DNDN) is down 14.90% this morning at $9.25. DNDN has traded 13.1 million shares so far today, 3 million shares more than its daily average. penny stocksThe markets rebounded today on the back of positive payroll data. The ADP report came out saying there was an increase of over 260l jobs in February. What the translates to the unemployment rate will be revealed on Friday. The rally domestically is having a carryover effect in Asia. Asian markets are all advancing on the back of the US rally along with optimism over the Greek debt-swap. It remains to be seen if this will give the markets some clear direction in which way to head.

ADP Numbers Buoy Stock Futures. Stocks to Watch: DSCO, NFLX, ZNGA, MU, RENN, P, CSIQ

Stock FuturesAfter yesterday’s drubbing, the market is looking to regain some of its footing. Greek debt worries still remain, but it seems the ‘shrugging off’ attitude has returned to the street. Plus there is going to be a new iPad today. Nothing like a shiny new toy to shift attention. Dow futures are currently up 44 points to 12,788. Nasdaq 100 futures are up 11.25 points to 2,601. The S&P 500 futures are rounding out the pre-market gains, up 5 points to 1,347.

Private sector employment numbers continue to show growth, adding 216k jobs in February. What this translates to the non-farm payrolls will be unveiled later this week. Probably not as good, but this is a positive sign for the labor market.

Most of the major markets are rebounding after yesterday’s losses. More of a take a breather day. The exception being Asia, which responded to the red day on the street. [Read more...]

Stocks are trading higher this morning as jobless data showed the labor market continues to slowly recover. Initial claims came in at 351,000 and were unchanged from last week’s revised numbers. Most economists were expecting initial claims to rise to 354,000. The improving jobs market is seen as a win for President Obama as he begins to ramp up his reelection campaign. Voters have stressed in poll after poll that jobs are the most important issue to them in the November election.

Gas Prices On The Rise

Oil prices continue to rise today and are over $106/barrel and will soon be reflected at the gas pump. Some people contribute this rise to oil speculators which is somewhat true, but it is also the ongoing tensions between Iran and Western countries that are fueling this price increase. Analysts expect gas prices to rise to over $4 this spring and may even hit $5 a gallon by summer. One plus for consumers is the relatively mild winter has kept natural gas prices low. [Read more...]

Stocks are trading relatively flat this morning as traders react to a lackluster outlook of the economy from Fed chairman Ben Bernanke. Investors also reacted to an encouraging jobless claims report. Bernanke urged Congress not to cut deficits with policies that could help boost the weak economy in the short run. The Nasdaq is leading the charge in the market today and is up 15 points. The Dow and S&P are up 9 points and 3 points respectively.

RealD Inc. (NYSE:RLD) is up 16.84% this morning at $11.38. RLD has traded 1.1 million shares so far today, more than double its daily average of 509 thousand shares. RLD shares are up today after posting strong third quarter results. RealD beat estimates on revenue with $49 in revenue, estimates were $42.4 million. RealD profit was $0.05, in line with estimates. The company has a market cap of 617.52 million.
