Market’s Bullish Run Slows and 6 Stocks to Watch

A list of NASDAQ stocksStocks ended the day higher, but just barely. Boosted by housing data and the Apple announcement, the major indexes finished the day slightly higher. The Dow closed up 6 points to 13,293. The Nasdaq 100 finished the day up 23 points to 3,078. The S&P 500 rounded out the day’s modest gains, up 5.5 points to ,409.

The Nasdaq today was buttressed by the two-fold Apple announcement. First they announced a quarterly dividend of $2.65 per share. The second part of the announcement was a stock buy-back program. Some analysts said that Apple went and made dividends cool again. Other analysts say that it is possible for Apple to stretch its run to $700 per share. That would make the stock look even more toppy than it does now.

The rest of the market spent the day digesting the first in a series of housing data points to be released this year. With housing sentiment number coming in high, there is hope that the lagging housing market could be joining the recovery.

The one caveat to the recovery that analysts are quick to point out is rising energy prices. Already skyrocketing gas prices could start to pinch the consumer’s pocket and throw inflationary models out of whack. BofA Leads Blue Chips Higher and NYSE Stocks to Watch

The NYSE BullBank of America (NYSE:BAC) is leading blue chips higher this morning and briefly surpassed $10 a share. BofA stock has come a long way since trading under $5 in mid December. Definitely making Warren Buffet’s bet look smart.

Financials have benefited the most in the current rally with BofA rallying 100%, Morgan Stanley stock (NYSE:MS) jumped $7 a share and Citigroup (NYSE:C) up $10.

The recent stress test on the banks have also helped send financials higher. Most of the big banks passed a test meant to see if banks could continue to function another economic crisis such as the one in 2008 occurred again.

Economic news is a bit slow today, but will change tomorrow as investors will be paying attention as Bernanke speaks.

The major stock indices remain flat at mid-morning with the Dow down 9 points, the Nasdaq up 9 points and the S&P 500 up 3 points. [Read more...]

Wall Street signStocks continue to trade flat in midday trading as investors look to towards the weekend. Economic news was slightly negative today as consumer confidence fell in February due to high energy prices. Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) is rallying again today and has nearly double since hitting a low of around $5 late last year.

Right now the Dow is up 2 points, the Nasdaq is up 2 points and the S&P 500 is up 2 points.

Towerstream Corporation (NASDAQ:TWER) is up nearly 9% in midday trading at $4.0301. TWER continues to trend higher after announcing fourth quarter results on Wednesday. Columbia Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ:CBRX) is up 6.85% in after hours trading at $1.17. CBRX was pummeled today on news that its gel did not work in U.S. FDA review. CBRX traded 18.1 million shares today, more than 30 times its daily average. The company has a market cap of 95.56 million

Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) is up close to 3% in after hours following news Jerry Yang has resigned from all positions at the company. YHOO closed the day at $15.43 and is currently trading at $15.88 in after hours. YHOO traded 14.8 million shares today, about 6 million less than the stock trades on average. The company has a market cap of 19.14 billion.

Ivanhoe Mines Ltd (NYSE:IVN) is up 2.21% in after hours trading at $19.40. IVN closed the day down 4.33% after being up briefly in morning trading. IVN pulled back today after seeing a big spike yesterday afternoon when the stock jumped about $2 a share. The company has a market cap of 14.02 billion.

Motricity, Inc. (NASDAQ:MOTR) is up 2.50% in after hours trading at $0.76. MOTR traded 747 thousand shares today and trades 842 thousand shares a day on average. MOTR closed the day down more than 6% and closed with heavy selling pressure. The company has a market cap of 34.87 million.

Majesco Entertainment Company (NASDAQ:COOL) is down 20.81% in after hours trading at $2.98. COOL closed the day up slightly, but soon turned negative once the company released their latest quarterly report after the market close. Majesco saw their fourth quarter loss widen to $3.9 million from a loss of $1.5 million a year ago. The company’s forecast for 2012 is also week with an EPS of $0.25-0.35. Analysts were expecting an EPS of $0.46. The company has a market cap of 115.79 million.

Cree, Inc. (NASDAQ:CREE) is down 4.63% in after hours at $22.25. CREE shares fell as company’s fiscal second quarter missed estimates. CREE traded 5.7 million shares today, close to double its daily average. The company has a market cap of 2.69 billion.

BancorpSouth, Inc. (NYSE:BXS) is down 3.86% in after hours trading at $11.72. BXS share fell after they announced an underwritten public offering of $100 million of its common stock. BXS traded below average volume today with 644 thousand shares traded, 300 thousand less than its daily average. The company has a market cap of 1.02 billion.

DHT Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:DHT) is down 5.93% in after hours trading at $0.70. DHT shares closed down 7% today at $0.7441 with 753 thousand shares traded. No recent news today for DHT, but it did have volatile trading last Thursady when the stock jumped nearly $0.10 before coming back down by the end of that day. On Friday it traded flat and then traded negative today with heavy selling volume in the last hour of trading today. The company has a market cap of 47.96 million.

DHT is selling off today after the stock jumped from $0.80 to $1 in the previous four trading days. The company has a current market cap of 61.40 million.
