Wall StreetStocks are rallying big time today on better than expected jobs and ISM reports. Non farm payrolls rose to 163,000 jobs in July, nearly 100,000 more than June’s revised number of 64,000. The unemployment also increased 0.1 to 8.3%. Economists were looking for a steady unemployment rate with about 100,000 new jobs.

ISM numbers were better than expected as well today with July’s non-manufacturing index coming in at 52.6, above analysts estimates of 52.0.

The major stock indexes are all up more than 1.5% today with the Dow up 212 points, the Nasdaq up 58 points and the S&P 500 up 25 points. [Read more...]

Midday Losers: KGC, RRD, DMED, PAL, DCTH, CPWR

Stocks are still holding steady gains heading into midday trading with each of the major indices up more than 0.5%. The Dow is up 96 points, the Nasdaq is up 26 points and the S&P is up 8 points.

Some stocks haven’t been so lucky today and are deep in the red.

Kinross Gold Corporation (NYSE:KGC) is down 16.90% in midday trading at $10.51. KGC is down on heavy volume with 19.3 million shares traded today. The stock usually trades 6.6 million shares a day. KGC shares are tanking today after the company said it expects production to be flat, but production costs will rise between 12-19%. The company has a market cap of 11.94 billion.

R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (NASDAQ:RRD) is down 14.47% today at $12.32. RRD is down on big volume after the company said it expects revenue of $10.6 million for 2011. This was below most analysts expectations. RRD has traded 13.2 million shares so far today and trades 2.8 million shares a day on average. The company has a market cap of 2.32 billion.

D. Medical Industries Ltd. (NASDAQ:DMED) is down 24.22% in midday trading at $0.97. DMED shares gaped down this morning and opened at $0.98 after having a previous close of $1.28. DMED’s subsidiary Spring Health Solutions signed a non-exclusive agreement with Better Living Now for distribution of its Spring Universal Infusion sets. DMED has traded 147 thousand shares today, way above its daily average of 8 thousand shares. The company has a market cap of 7.59 million.

North American Palladium, Ltd. (AMEX:PAL) is down 12.09% today at $2.7165. PAL has traded 2.2 million shares so far today, about double its daily average volume. PAL shares are down today after the company announced they will discontinue production at Sleeping Giant Mine. The company has a market cap of 444.58 million.

Delcath Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:DCTH) is down 7.69% in midday trading at $3.84. DCTH has traded over a million shares so far today, close to double its daily average. DCTH rallied more than 100% since late December, so this slight pull back should come as no surprise. The company has a market cap of 182.37 million.

Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ:CPWR) is down 8.09% today at $7.61. CPWR shares fell today after the company warned its third quarter results fell short of expectations. The company failed to hit revenue goals for the quarter and now expects to see profits of $0.40-42 per share for March 2012 fiscal year. Wall Street was expecting closer to $0.47 per share. The company has a market cap of 1.66 billion.
