Wall StreetThe street is taking hits from all sides today. The FOMC minutes yesterday. The Spanish auction today. All the ingredients for a sharp sell off and that’s what we are are seeing intraday. Just when you thought Europe was being saved you get the news; nope, still an ongoing concern. At least today we don’t have to hear about Greece. It is all about Spain and their budgetary concerns coupled with a weak bond auction.

Decliners are leading the advancers by a 6-1 margin. Current market action is decidedly to the downside. The Dow is giving up 163 points, the Nasdaq 52 and the S&P 500 17.

Market Continues Negative, Midday Movers: TEAR, GALE, WPX, PPO, YELP, LCC

Wall StreetStocks continue to trade in negative territory today as worst than expected economic data from Europe and China weights on investors. China cut its 2012 growth target to 7.5% as the country. Chinese Premiere Wen Jiabao said the country hopes to reach this new target by using prudent monetary policies to fight pressure to its growth and high inflation. Investors continue to worry about a Greek default. Last week, Moody’s downgraded Greece to the lowest bond rating.

In the U.S., economic news continues to be positive. The ISM index for February hit 57.3, beating economists’ expectations of 56.1. Positive news closer to home couldn’t overshadow negative news overseas though. Right now the Dow is down 45 points, the Nasdaq is off 28 points and the S&P 500 is down 8 points.

TearLab Corporation (NASDAQ:TEAR) is up 11.93% in midday trading at $1.97. TEAR is up on above average volume with 220 thousand shares traded. TEAR shares are bouncing back today after dipping from $2 to $1.70 over the past two weeks. On the year, TEAR is up about $0.90 from its low of $1.10. The company has a market cap of 40.42 million. Stock Futures Up On Jobless Claims. Stocks to Watch: KSS, ARNA, BAC, HPQ, VVUS, OREX, PPO

Stock FuturesInvestors are looking for guidance again this morning as stock futures drift into positive territory. It remains to be seen if the weekly jobless claims number can be the catalyst to renew the rally’s march to 13k+. Dow futures are currently up 25 points to 12,941. Nasdaq 100 futures are currently up 8 points to 2,587. The S&P 500 futures round out the modest gains, up 1.50 points to 1,357.

Jobless claims out this morning showed them unchanged at 351k. Expectations were for a modest rise. The 4-week average for claims fell by 7k to 359k. This represents the lowest level since March of 2008.

Asian stocks slipped negative overnight as they reacted to yesterday’s session in the US. European markets also reversed their earlier gains, after the EU released a report saying they expect a mild recession in 2012. It expects the EU growth rate to drop to -.3% versus a previously forecasted growth rate of .5%. [Read more...]

Stocks are trying to make a recovery in afternoon trading after economic data sent the market down early. Europe will continue to be an issue for the rest of the week as everyone waits for a deal between Greece and its creditors to actually get done. We’ve been hearing about how its close for over a week now. The Dow is losing about 50 points and the Nasdaq and S&P are both off about 4 points.

Parexel International Corporation (NASDAQ:PRXL) is up 18.91% today at $24.33. PRXL has traded nearly 2 million shares today, about 5 time its daily average volume. PRXL shares are rallying today following their fiscal second quarter results and an analyst upgrade by BB&T Capital. The company has a market cap of 1.44 billion. ZAGG Inc. (NASDAQ:ZAGG) is up 10.56% today at $9.85. ZAGG has traded 1.5 million shares so far today, 400 thousand shares more than its daily average. ZAGG shares are rallying today after hitting a low of $8.5 on Monday. The company has a market cap of 292.29 million.

Array BioPharma Inc. (NASDAQ:ARRY) is up 11.67% in afternoon trading at $2.68. ARRY has traded 792 thousand shares right now, more than double its average. ARRY shares are up today after the company announced fiscal second quarter results yesterday. The company beat expectations on revenue and beat EPS by $0.06. The company has a market cap of 157.70 million.
