Wall Street signStocks are trading lower this morning as a couple of large tech companies drag the indices lower. Investors were also disappointed to see that the minutes from the Bank of England showed only one member of the Monetary Policy Committee supported another round of QE.

Intel shares fell this morning despite the company posted earnings that beat earnings and revenue estimates. IBM is also trading lower today as their revenue came in slightly lower than analyst estimates.

After Hours Trading Report for April 17

Investors at the NYSEA sense of calm over Europe helped tech stocks power the broader market to a massive rally. The Dow logged its best day in a month with IBM pushing higher ahead of earnings – the stock is dropping in after-hours as its earnings released.

Earnings season is in full swing with Yahoo shares jumping in after-hours after the company swung to a 1st quarter profit.

Gold prices also ended the day higher, breaking a two session losing streak. The metal is matching the moves of the broader market, but in a more muted fashion. It seems gold lacks direction as it weighs news out of Europe but realizes that the concern over their debt situation is far from resolved. [Read more...]

United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE:URI) is up 4.98% in after hours at $36.50. URI announced their fourth quarter earnings and provided an outlook for 2012 right after market close today. Adjusted EPS came in at $0.82 per diluted share compared to $0.16 per diluted share in the same quarter last year. Rental revenue jumped 18.5% in the fourth quarter. The company expects an increase in rental rates of 5% in 2012 and net rental capital expenditures of between $770 and $820 million. The company has a market cap of 2.18 billion.

Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) is up 12.54% in after hours trading at $106.98. NFLX shares are heading higher after the company’s fourth quarter earnings beat Wall Street estimates. Netflix saw revenue increase 47% from the same quarter a year ago. The company added 600 thousand U.S. subscribers in the fourth quarter as users’ outrage from earlier this year dissipates. The company has a market cap of 4.99 billion.
