This Week in Earnings – JCP, SPLS, WMT, ANF, TGT
Lots of big name companies highlighting this week in earnings with JC Penney’s, Target and Walmart all releasing earnings during the first half of the week.
J.C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE:JCP) releases their third quarter results pre-market on Monday. Most analysts are expecting a net loss of $0.12 per share in the third quarter. In the same quarter last year, J.C. Penney reported a net gain of EPS $0.19. Analysts expect revenue to be around $4.06 billion, a bit less than last year’s $4.19 billion. JCP closed Friday up 3.10% at $33.92. The stock saw above average volume with 5.94 million shares traded, up from its daily average of 4.93 million shares. The company has a current market cap of 7.24 billion.
Staples, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPLS) releases their third quarter results on Tuesday. Analysts are expecting EPS of $0.47, up from last year’s EPS of $0.41. Revenue is expected to be at $6.71 billion, up from $6.54 billion in the same quarter a year ago. The average stock recommendation for SPLS is overweight. 7 analysts call it a buy, 2 overweight and 9 hold. SPLS closed Friday up 6.12% at $15.43. The stock traded slightly above average volume Friday with 9.56 million shares traded. The company has a current market cap of 10.94 billion.
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) releases earnings on Tuesday. Analysts expect EPS of $0.98, up from last year’s EPS of $0.90. Revenue is estimated to be at $107.98 billion, 6 billion higher than in the same quarter last year. This would be a gain of nearly 6% is the estimates are true. WMT closed Friday up 1.84% at $59.20. Wal-Mart traded 8.4 million shares on Friday, down from its daily average of 12.28 million shares. The company has a current market cap of 204.04 billion.
Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (NYSE:ANF) releases their quarterly earnings on Wednesday. Analysts are expecting an EPS of $0.71 for the current quarter, up from EPS of $0.56 a year ago. Revenue is estimated to jump 21% from a year ago to $1.07 billion. ANF closed Friday up 2.42% at $56.80. The stock traded 2.53 million shares, just under its daily average of 2.96 million. The company has a current market cap of 4.94 billion.
Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) releases earnings on Thursday. Analysts expect an EPS of $0.74, up from $0.68 in the same quarter last year. Revenue is expected to be around $16.27 billion, a 4.30% increase from last year. TGT ended the day Friday up 2.51% at $53.07. The stock traded 4.29 million shares, this was below its daily average of 6.53 million shares. The company has a current market cap of 35.83 billion.
